original and intact 19th century oversized nicely weathered and worn painted pine wood tool chest with intact opposed russell & erwin (new britain, ct.) cast iron drop handles. the custom-built pine wood chest or toolbox was used by a carpenter constructing residential frame dwellings near akron , ohio. the spacious interior contains removable tool trays built specifically for this chest. the bottom of the chest is reinforced with mitered joint baseboards. the hinged top was wrapped and nailed with sheet metal sometime after 1900. the cast iron drop handles are in great working condition. the heavily worn paint finish was lightly cleaned. measures 35 x 21 x 18 inches.
