american antique victorian era solid white oak wood interior residential fireplace mantel designed and fabricated by chas. f. lorenzen & co., inc., chicago, il. the "half" mantel is largely unornamented, with the exception of deeply grooved lines and oversized buttons gracing the frieze. the flanking jambs are structurally sound and stable. the mantel shelf is original and in good overall condition. the fireplace mantel contains a large firebox opening. dates to 1895. salvaged from a chicago graystone residence undergoing renovation. measures 10 x 64 x 48 3/4 inches.
