original early 20th century refinished antique american medical heavy gauge all-welded joint steel hospital examination room chair designed and manufactured by or for the frank s. betz company, hammond, indiana. the robust bow back examination chair contains a fully adjustable circular-shaped swivel seat that is supported by a solid threaded steel spindle that rotates upwards and downwards to achieve the desired height. the unusually curvaceous bent tubular steel arms are fastened tight to the underside of the seat and backrest. the three flat slats are comprised of cold-rolled furniture sheet steel. the four-legged base contains bent tubular steel legs reinforced by solid steel stretcher rods. the brushed and sanded finish has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measures 18 x 20 x 44 inches
